01 Dec National Manufacturing and Supply Chain Exhibition and Conference 2021
The annual Manufacturing and Supply Chain Exhibition and Conference was held recently in the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin. The annual conference provides a national forum for manufacturers and operators to gather and discuss topics and trends for Irish industry. This was the 8th annual Manufacturing & Supply Chain event, that involved strategic planning and implementation of government guidelines to enable a physical exhibition with some virtual interaction. There were over 3,000 people at the event over the two days.
The two-day event had an extensive conference programme with 121 speakers appearing on the 6 stages and a wide exhibition area with over 191 booths displaying the latest technological solutions and business services available.
IMR had a heavy presence at the event including an exhibitor’s space showcasing our 4 pillars; Digitisation (Analytics, IIoT, and XR demos), Automation and Advanced Control, Design for Manufacturing and Sustainable Manufacturing, as well as our various EU Projects.
We also had several speakers over the 2 days. On Day 1, Mark Hartnett kicked off the morning on the 3D Printing & Advanced Engineering Stage followed by Fergus Quilligan & Barry Kennedy on the main stage and closing with John Walsh on the Robotics & Automation stage.
On Day 2 the focus switched to Sustainability as CIRCULÉIRE held its National Conference which focused on “Accelerating the transition to a Circular Economy” and reinforced how the circular economy is a key tool in Ireland’s decarbonisation strategy. The various keynote speeches were moderated by our COO, Maurice O’Connell, and Geraldine Brennan, Head of Circular Economy at IMR. The conference also featured talks from other IMR researchers – Sophie Reynolds, Mohamed Abokersh, and Damien Coughlan.
IMRs Dr Andrew Lynch finished off our speakers on the main stage with a fascinating talk on “The Future of Manufacturing Work in the Knowledge Economy – from Sisyphus to Enlightenment”.
We would like to thank everybody who visited our space and talks. We look forward to seeing you again at the next conference in May 2022.
