Precision Engineering the Focus at 3rd Annual Networking Event

Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR), in collaboration with the PTMA, successfully hosted the third annual Precision Engineering Networking Event on the 12th of September. Held at our Mullingar facility, the event drew a full house, with an enthusiastic turnout from a vibrant community within the Precision Engineering sector. This gathering has quickly become a key platform for industry professionals to connect, share knowledge, and discuss both the challenges and the exciting opportunities shaping the future of the sector.

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers who brought their expertise and valuable insights across a range of relevant topics:

  • Andrew O’Connell (F4Energy) delivered an engaging talk on the potential of solar energy for precision engineering companies.
  • John Blake (MIDAS) highlighted the crucial role of precision engineering in Microelectronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing in Ireland.
  • Kevin Callan (HRDUO) offered valuable insights on HR and Workforce Management.
  • Zoltan Tomoga (ESPRIT) provided an exciting glimpse into the future with his presentation on AI in CADCAM and its potential to transform design and manufacturing processes.
  • Dick Wheelan (ALMIR) discussed Quality Management Systems (QMS) tailored for precision engineering firms.
  • Lee Scott (Starrag) showcased how optimised single set-up machining can revolutionise the production of complex parts for the MedTech sector.

In addition to these presentations, attendees were treated to live technology demonstrations by our event partners – Kildare Tooling, Starrag, Openmind Hypermill, Hardmetal, Hexagon and Haimer. These demonstrations provided an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in machining and tooling technologies, allowing attendees to experience cutting-edge innovations firsthand.

This year’s event underscored the critical importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the precision engineering sector. It offered a unique forum for networking and learning, where participants could engage with peers, discover emerging technologies, and explore opportunities for innovation.

As we look ahead to next year, we are already planning the 4th Annual Precision Engineering Networking Event. The continued enthusiasm and growing participation in this event serves as a testament to the strength and potential of the Irish precision engineering community.
