Visits to IMR Labs
IMR takes part in national initiatives including Engineers Week, Tech Week and Science Week by hosting events in its high-tech lab in Mullingar. Visiting students and teachers are introduced to what Industry 4.0 is, the different technologies being used in advanced manufacturing and meet researchers working in the lab. Students also participate in hands-on STEM workshops linked to the Irish primary school curriculum.

Engineering Challenges
IMR has developed a series of engineering challenges that aim to introduce primary school students (9-12 years old) to key areas of advanced manufacturing and take the roles of engineers while having fun! The challenges have been designed to be completed either individually, in pairs or in groups.

POST PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Transition Year Work Experience
IMR launched a Transition Year Work Experience Programme in 2020 to provide students with hands-on experiences with cutting-edge technologies currently shaping the way products are manufactured such as 3D printing, collaborative robots and augmented and virtual reality. IMR hosts TY students twice a year, in Q1 and Q4. The following process must be completed by all the students interested in joining IMR’s Transition Year Work Experience Programme:
Step 1 REQUEST
All requests should be directed by email to hr@imr.ie.
Step 2 INTERVIEW
All the TY students will be invited to have a chat to see if we can accommodate.
Step 3 CONFIRMATION EMAIL
Candidate will receive a confirmation email (dates, location, documents).

STEM Careers Talk
IMR in collaboration with other organisations has hosted online career talks with professionals from different backgrounds aiming to introduce secondary students to careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and Manufacturing and spark their interest in these careers.
