Ideas Made Real – Outreach

Ideas Made Real IMR Webpage Graphic

Ideas Made Real is a school outreach programme designed to bridge the gap between curriculum and industry needs, championing the role of advanced manufacturing in our lives and opening young minds to the limitless potential of a career in STEM.

We inspire students of all ages to create, innovate, challenge stereotypes, pioneer new technologies and make their brilliant and bold ideas real.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS

Visits to IMR Labs

IMR takes part in national initiatives including Engineers Week, Tech Week and Science Week by hosting events in its high-tech lab in Mullingar. Visiting students and teachers are introduced to what Industry 4.0 is, the different technologies being used in advanced manufacturing and meet researchers working in the lab. Students also participate in hands-on STEM workshops linked to the Irish primary school curriculum.

Engineering Challenges

IMR has developed a series of engineering challenges that aim to introduce primary school students (9-12 years old) to key areas of advanced manufacturing and take the roles of engineers while having fun! The challenges have been designed to be completed either individually, in pairs or in groups.

Transition Year Work Experience

IMR launched a Transition Year Work Experience Programme in 2020 to provide students with hands-on experiences with cutting-edge technologies currently shaping the way products are manufactured such as 3D printing, collaborative robots and augmented and virtual reality. Step 1 REQUEST
All requests should be directed by email to hr@imr.ie.

Step 2 INTERVIEW
All the TY students will be invited to have a chat to see if we can accommodate.

Step 3 CONFIRMATION EMAIL
Candidate will receive a confirmation email (dates, location, documents).
