About Shirley Gallagher


Shirley provides technical and business leadership to deliver the sustainable manufacturing teams objectives in supporting our industrial customers. Shirley’s uses the UN sustainability development goals (SDG) to support the drive to a circular economy. Working in CirculEire, we focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and waste in the nexus of energy, water and materials across the network of industry partners.


Dr Gallagher has worked in scientific roles in a number of different sectors. She is an advocate for sustainability. Shirley has regulatory knowledge, project management skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement in a challenging, customer-focused environment. She is a trained auditor, having worked as both an internal and external auditor for UK and Irish governments and private industry to HPRA and FDA regulations (GxP). She has expertise to ISO standards in products, energy, environmental, quality, water and health and safety. She is Chair of Cork Environmental Forum, Sustainability Officer in Glanmire Chamber of Commerce, a Climate Reality Leader and a Toastmaster.

Working as a team in IMR, we empower industry to create competitive strategies by developing sustainable manufacturing. This motivates me as we have the opportunity to work with industry to drive strategic planning, challenge barriers and in time create a sustainable future.
