What it is
The KUKA on Rails is a KUKA KR70 industrial robot of 70kg payload mounted on a 4.5m linear rail. By adding a 7th axis to the robot, the work envelope of the robot is considerably extended, thereby enabling robotics applications with larger structures or workspaces.
What is it used for in IMR
The KUKA on Rails is used to demonstrate capabilities in 3D scanning of large structures and to showcase cageless robotics for more open manufacturing environment when combined with a PILZ safety eye.
