The objective of the study was to demonstrate the capability of an intelligent (AI-based) cloud scheduling system to plan and optimally schedule the machines and tools to deliver on Irish Pressings schedule requirements.
The goal was twofold;
The current production planning process is manual, involving too much operator time and it is difficult to up-scale when the sales increase. When the production schedule is full, the deadlines agreed with the users are easier to miss, creating a huge impact for the company.
After several interviews with the Operations manager and the production planner, IMR created a cloud version of “Greybox”, its cutting edge intelligent scheduler, adapted to Irish Pressings. The company can now upload their work orders, create an optimised schedule and modify it as they see fit, before downloading it and using it.
A cloud-based version of an intelligent AI scheduler was implemented for Irish Pressings for its use and evaluation.
The main impact is the availability of a proof of concept Greybox platform, a scheduling optimisation software directed at the challenges faced by Irish Pressings relating to the complexities of production planning in the automotive industry. IMR has identified ways to meet these challenges by providing a meaningful and responsive piece of software to meet Irish Pressings requirements.
The voucher provided a platform for Irish Pressings to understand what data (quantity, quality) is necessary to implement an intelligent scheduling approach; what steps are necessary for its implementation; and the use of cloud services.
“The Interreg Machining 4.0 Project has allowed Irish Pressings the opportunity to work closely with a highly experienced team at IMR in order to develop a meaningful software to support production planning. The benefits focus on the fact that the software is directed at the challenges faced by Irish Pressings relating to the complexities of production planning in the automotive industry and the team at IMR have identified ways to meet these challenges and close the gaps in our requirements by providing a meaningful and responsive piece of software.”,
